This section provides information about fees for fertility tests and treatments. For patients with valid OHIP coverage, physician visits and most diagnostic tests are paid for by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan. Out of province patients and those without a valid OHIP card will be billed for their services at the current Ontario Medical Association (OMA) rates. Please refer to the appropriate section for a list of services and fees.

Fertility Treatment Fee Policy

For patients with a valid OHIP card, physician visits and most diagnostic tests are paid for by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). With some exceptions, OHIP covers:

  • Your initial consultation and follow-up appointments
  • Ultrasound exams
  • Blood work
  • Semen analysis (basic count and motility)
  • Monitoring and physician care during Intra-uterine insemination (IUI)
  • Donor sperm insemination (DI)
  • In-vitro fertilization (IVF) for patients with blocked tubes

Fees for services that are not covered by OHIP are included in this brochure. We continue to advocate for full provincial funding for fertility treatments, but until that time we constantly strive to be more innovative so that we can keep our fees from increasing while improving quality, service, and convenience for patients. The Ottawa Fertility Centre is proud to have the same fee for IVF and IUI as it had 5 years ago.
